Description
The NSP Bone Health Program is a systematic approach to maintaining bone mineral density and preserving joint functionality. In today’s world, a sedentary lifestyle, unbalanced diet, hormonal changes and natural aging create conditions for the gradual loss of bone mass. Nature’s Sunshine Products has developed a comprehensive program that combines four key products to provide the body with targeted minerals, trace elements and organic compounds necessary for musculoskeletal health.
The NSP Bone Health Program—What It Is and How It Works
Bone tissue is in a constant process of renewal: osteoblasts build new bone, and osteoclasts destroy the old. With age, especially after 40 years, the process of destruction begins to prevail over synthesis, which leads to a decrease in bone density. To maintain the balance of the body, three key components are necessary: a sufficient amount of calcium (the main building material), magnesium (involved in the assimilation of calcium and maintaining the activity of osteoblasts) and trace elements – zinc, copper, boron, sulfur (involved in the synthesis of collagen and mineralization of the matrix). The NSP bone health program provides all these elements in optimal proportions for three months, which allows the body to restore its nutritional balance and support the natural processes of bone formation.
Composition and active components of the program “Health of your bones”
The program includes four NSP products, each of which has a specific role in supporting the bone system:
- Osteo Plus is a basic complex that contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and boron in chelated forms. Chelates are compounds of minerals with amino acids, which ensures their high bioavailability (up to 80% against 20-30% in ordinary salts). Osteo Plus creates the foundation of bone mineral nutrition, supplying all the key elements for mineralization and collagen framework formation. 3–4 sentences.
- Calcium Magnesium Chelate is an enhanced source of calcium and magnesium in chelated form. Calcium is the main structural component of bones (99% of all calcium in the body is concentrated in the skeleton), and magnesium is involved in regulating the activity of vitamin D, calcitonin, and parathyroid hormone, which control calcium metabolism. The optimal ratio of Ca:Mg in the product ensures effective assimilation of both minerals without mutual inhibition. 3–4 sentences.
- Complex with Magnesium is an additional source of magnesium with plant extracts (passion flower, hops, valerian). Magnesium is necessary not only for calcium metabolism, but also for muscle relaxation, reduction of spasms and support of the nervous system. Plant components additionally help reduce stress and improve sleep, which is important because stress hormones accelerate bone loss. 3–4 sentences.
- MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a source of organic sulfur, which is a building material for collagen, chondroitin and glucosamine. Sulfur participates in the formation of connective tissue, is part of the amino acids cysteine and methionine, which are necessary for the synthesis of cartilage and tendon proteins. MSM is traditionally used to maintain joint elasticity and reduce discomfort during physical exertion. 3–4 sentences.
This combination of products in the NSP bone health program provides a synergistic effect: minerals build bone, magnesium participates in the regulation of their metabolism, and sulfur supports the elasticity of the connective tissue matrix. Each component enhances the effect of others, creating comprehensive support for the entire musculoskeletal system.
What research says about bone health and minerals
The World Health Organization recognizes osteoporosis as one of the ten most important problems of modern medicine. According to WHO, after the age of 50, every third woman and every fifth man face a decrease in bone density. Numerous studies confirm that adequate intake of calcium (1,000–1,200 mg per day for adults) and magnesium (300–400 mg) in combination with vitamin D and trace elements can help maintain bone mineral density. A study published in PubMed showed that chelated forms of calcium and magnesium have 30-40% higher bioavailability compared to carbonates, making them more effective in supporting the bone system. Organic sulfur (MSM) is traditionally used to support joints, and some studies point to its possible role in reducing discomfort during exercise.
For whom the “Health of your bones” program is suitable
The NSP Bone Health Program is designed for people who want to maintain bone mineral balance and maintain joint functionality. It is especially relevant for women during menopause and postmenopause, when the level of estrogens — hormones that protect bones from excessive resorption — decreases. The program is suitable for older people (50+), when the natural processes of bone renewal slow down, as well as for those who lead a sedentary lifestyle, are overweight or regularly consume coffee, alcohol, tobacco – factors that accelerate the leaching of calcium from the body. Also, the program can be useful for those who have been taking certain medications (corticosteroids, thyroid hormones) for a long time, which can affect calcium metabolism. The program is not a medicine and does not replace medical treatment, but can be used as an additional source of nutrients to support the health of the musculoskeletal system.

How to take the Health of Your Bones program
The program is designed for 3 months. 1-2 months (basic scheme): Osteo Plus — 1 tablet 2 times a day (morning and evening during meals), Calcium Magnesium Chelate — 1 tablet 2 times a day, Complex with Magnesium — 1 capsule a day (better in the evening), MSM — 1 tablet a day during meals. For an enhanced effect: if there is discomfort at rest or during normal loads, add Boswellia Plus to the basic scheme – 2 capsules 2 times a day until a comfortable state is reached. For women in menopause: it is recommended to add products to support hormonal balance (Wild Yam, FS with Dong Quai or C-X) to the basic scheme. 3 month (maintenance scheme): the dosage is reduced to 1 tablet/capsule per day of each product. The program can be repeated 2-3 times a year as needed. For additional comfort, you can use local remedies — Relaxing balm with tea tree oil or Tei Fu massage lotion. Store products in a cool, dry place out of the reach of children.
What to combine with the NSP bone health program
For maximum effect, the program can be supplemented with other NSP products that support bone metabolism and general health:
- TN vitamin-mineral complex — contains vitamin D3 and K2, which are necessary for the assimilation of calcium and its transport into bone tissue, strengthens the effect of the main program
- Omega-3 – polyunsaturated fatty acids EPA and DHA reduce the level of inflammatory cytokines, which can accelerate bone resorption, support joint health
- Colloidal minerals — an additional broad-spectrum source of trace elements in an easily digestible form, improves the overall mineral status of the body
Frequently asked questions about the Bone Health Program
Is the NSP Bone Health Program suitable for daily use for 3 months?
Yes, the program is designed specifically for long-term course admission for three months. Bone tissue remodeling processes are slow, so sufficient time is needed to restore nutritional balance and maintain mineral density. The dosage of all products is safe for daily use and does not exceed the recommended daily intake of minerals.
How many bone health programs should you take in a year?
Depending on the state of the bone system and the presence of risk factors, the program can be repeated 2-3 times a year. Many practice courses in spring and autumn, when the body especially needs additional mineral support. For maintenance prevention, one or two courses a year are enough, and with an increased risk of osteoporosis, you can complete the program three times a year with breaks of 1-2 months.
Can the bone health program be combined with other NSP supplements?
Yes, the program is well combined with vitamin and mineral complexes, Omega-3, products to support hormonal balance (especially for women in menopause), as well as with local remedies for the joints. It is important not to exceed the total daily dose of calcium (from all sources) above 2000 mg per day. If you are taking medications or other calcium/magnesium supplements, consult your doctor or nutritionist for dosage adjustments.
⚠️ Important: The NSP “Healthy Bones” program is a complex of nutritional supplements, is not a medicine and does not replace a full diet or medical treatment. Not intended for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of any diseases. Before use, consult a doctor, especially during pregnancy, breastfeeding, taking anticoagulants, drugs for the thyroid gland, diuretics or the presence of chronic kidney diseases, hypercalcemia. Individual tolerance may vary. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Keep out of the reach of children.
Why is calcium alone insufficient for bone health?
Calcium is the primary bone mineral, but without cofactors it cannot effectively reach bone tissue: Vitamin D3 — increases intestinal calcium absorption from 10–15% to 40–50%. Vitamin K2 (MK-7) — activates osteocalcin and matrix GLA protein (MGP), directing calcium into bones and preventing its deposition in arteries. Magnesium — activates vitamin D; magnesium deficiency → vitamin D resistance. Boron — potentiates vitamin D and oestrogen effects on bone.
What is osteoporosis and how common is it?
Osteoporosis is reduced bone mineral density (BMD) and deteriorated microarchitecture, increasing fracture risk. Prevalence: 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over 50 will sustain an osteoporotic fracture. Asymptomatic until the first fracture (wrist, vertebra, hip). Annual costs from hip fractures equal myocardial infarction hospitalisation costs. Hip fracture in those 75+ → 25–30% mortality within one year.
Who especially benefits from the NSP Bone Health Programme?
High-risk groups who benefit most: Post-menopausal women (oestrogen deficiency → -2–3% BMD/year). Men 60+ (age-related androgen deficiency). Those on prolonged corticosteroid therapy (prednisolone) → secondary osteoporosis. Vegans (calcium and D3 deficiency risk). Those with coeliac disease or inflammatory bowel disease (impaired absorption). Smokers and heavy alcohol consumers.
What is the difference between vitamin K2 (MK-4) and K2 (MK-7)?
K2-MK-4 — shorter form, natural metabolite. Dosage: 45 mg/day (Japanese studies). K2-MK-7 — longer form from natto (fermented soy), 10× more active than MK-4. Dosage: 90–200 µg/day is sufficient. MK-7 half-life: 72 hours (vs 4–6 hours for MK-4) → more stable blood level with once-daily dosing. NSP uses MK-7 — a more effective and convenient form.
How long is the programme needed and how to monitor its effect?
Bones remodel slowly (complete remodelling cycle: 3–10 years). Preventive course: 3–6 months repeated every 6–12 months. For osteoporosis: continuously (alongside prescribed medications — bisphosphonates, denosumab). Monitoring efficacy: DXA densitometry every 1–2 years, blood tests for bone metabolism markers (osteocalcin, β-CTX) at 3–6 months. Calcium and D3 — safe for long-term use.
