Chondroitin
Chondroitin NSP (art. 1811) is a low molecular weight chondroitin sulfate from salmon cartilage, 323 mg per capsule. Supports the structure of cartilage tissue, synovial fluid and comfort of movements. High bioavailability, natural origin.
Dietary supplement. Not a medicinal product. Consult a doctor before use. Results may vary.
Description
Chondroitin NSP (SKU 1811): Biochemical Foundation for Cartilage Regeneration
Chondroitin sulfate is a natural component of cartilage extracellular matrix and substrate for proteoglycan (aggrecan) synthesis — key structural elements that retain water in cartilage and provide its shock-absorbing properties. With age and degenerative joint disease, chondroitin content in cartilage decreases.
Mechanism of Action
Proteoglycan Synthesis and Matrix Hydration
Chondroitin sulfate stimulates aggrecan synthesis by chondrocytes, increasing cartilage matrix hydrophilicity. Chondroitin molecules can retain water 10–20 times their own weight, enabling load distribution.
Inhibition of Catabolic Enzymes
Chondroitin suppresses metalloprotease activity (MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-13) that degrade type II collagen and aggrecan, while increasing TIMP-1 synthesis — creating an anabolic balance.
Anti-inflammatory Effect
Chondroitin reduces COX-2 expression and prostaglandin E2 synthesis in synovial fibroblasts.

💬 Consultant’s Comment
NSP Chondroitin is a key building block of connective tissue and joint cartilage. For over 25 years I’ve recommended it always alongside NSP Glucosamine — a classic synergistic combination where glucosamine stimulates synthesis of new cartilage matrix while chondroitin protects existing cartilage from breakdown and retains water within it. An important point that many people miss: chondroitin accumulates in tissues gradually — the first noticeable results appear after 2–3 months of regular use. Don’t expect results in a week: this is a long-term investment in joint health.

What is chondroitin and why does the body need it?
Chondroitin sulphate is a natural component of cartilage tissue and synovial fluid in joints. It retains water within cartilage, providing elasticity and shock-absorption, and inhibits enzymes that break down cartilage.
What is the difference between chondroitin and glucosamine?
Glucosamine stimulates the synthesis of new cartilage molecules (the building material), while chondroitin protects existing cartilage from breakdown and retains water within it. Together they provide complete joint protection — which is why taking both simultaneously is recommended.
Who benefits most from chondroitin?
Chondroitin is recommended for people over 40, athletes with joint load, those carrying excess weight, people experiencing discomfort in the knees, hips or spine, and as prevention for those with a family history of osteoarthritis.
How long should chondroitin be taken?
The minimum course is 3 months, as chondroitin accumulates in cartilage tissue gradually. For ongoing joint health support, long-term use of up to 6 months or more is recommended, with possible breaks of 1–2 months.
Is it better to take chondroitin before or after meals?
Chondroitin can be taken regardless of meals. For better stomach tolerance, taking it with or after food is recommended. It is important to drink adequate fluids throughout the day.
Can chondroitin be combined with NSAIDs?
Chondroitin use is generally safe alongside NSAIDs and may gradually allow dose reduction (under medical supervision). Chondroitin acts slowly, but without the side effects associated with long-term NSAID use.
Does NSP offer chondroitin combined with glucosamine?
NSP offers NSP Glucosamine as a separate product. Taking both simultaneously is recommended — this is the most effective combination for comprehensive cartilage and joint support.
